[1] Jocelyn Davies: Welcome, everybody, to the very last meeting of the Finance Committee. Can you just check that, if you’ve got a mobile device, it’s on ‘silent’, especially you, Mike Hedges?

[2] Mike Hedges: I think it is, Chair. It only ever made a noise once—[Inaudible.]—I don’t know how, and I don’t know why, but it’s on ‘silent’ for everything. So, I can only apologise and say there’s nothing I can do to stop it happening again. [Laughter.]

[3] Jocelyn Davies: Okay. I know it was only once, but we do remember.

[4] Mike Hedges: And I do, and thank you for reminding me. [Laughter.]

[5] Jocelyn Davies: We’ve had no apologies, so I am expecting Chris Chapman, Peter Black and Nick Ramsay to arrive very soon.

[6] Jocelyn Davies: We’ve got a number of papers to note. Are they all okay? Any comments on those?

[7] Okay, then, before we move into private session, I’d like to thank the Commission staff—I’m sure all the Members would join me in doing that—for their efforts in making us look so good when we are going about our work. And I’d also like to thank you, Members, because you’ve been so fabulous. So, I now move the motion under—

[8] Mike Hedges: Before you do that—[Inaudible.]—we’d like to thank you for the way you’ve chaired it and the fair way you’ve chaired it, and the way you’ve involved everybody and taken into account different political opinions during your time. I’ve said to you privately, and I’ll say to you publicly, that I’ve seen you and Christine Chapman chair committees, and Ann Jones, and if I ever become Chair of a committee, you three are people I’d like to base my chairing on.

[9] Jocelyn Davies: Well, there we are; that’s lovely, Mike. It’s fabulous to think that I could be a role model for Mike Hedges. [Laughter.]
